2018! Goals or Resolutions?
Long time no personal post. Did you make any goals or resolutions at the beginning of 2018?
2018 is a year I intend to live intentionally. I intend to make the best use of every opportunity I come across.
Finally, it’s the second month of the year! January took forever to come to an end and the reason isn’t far-fetched; it had five weeks coupled with the truckload of expenses from December. It feels like mid year already and I’m trying not to be exhausted to be honest.
To crossover into the new year, I didn’t go to church which is my normal ritual. The reason I didn’t go was because the last day of the year was a Sunday and I didn’t want to go to church twice 🙈. However, I watched the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s cross over service and I was blessed.
Last year ended with a lot of expectations unfulfilled so I resolved not to set any goals and just go with the flow in 2018. 2018 started on a low pedestal too but by mid-month, everything seemed great.
Something happened that made me excited and gingered and it was then I resolved to set goals to fulfill this year.
On the first of January 2018, I started a one year bible reading plan on the Youversion Bible application. Daily, it consists of not less than 3 books of the bible which is preceded by a devotion revolving round the chapters of the day. It’s not been easy keeping up as I have to wake up pretty early to prepare for work and I always get caught up with work and forget to read sometimes. I’ve been fairly consistent and I feel good in my spirit when I get a 3-day streak. The reason I love this application is that it’s give you the chance to pick a devotion according to your mood.
Presently, I am observing my compulsory national youth service corp which I spoke about here and I intend to save as much as I can from the scheme. It is not every time you get free money from the federal government and though its little, I intend to save it all. You know, NYSC goes by real fast and life hits you hard thereafter, so I don’t want to be caught up in that sad reality without adequate preparation. I have two applications: fudget and daily budget. I prefer the latter as it assists me in planning my month ahead and it’s also in naira. All you have to do is input an estimate of your recurrent expenses monthly, it calculates your daily budget and I find that helpful. I also intend to save in my piggy bank at least thrice a week and break at the end of the year. For the second half of the year, I hope to invest after consulting with experts to know the best investment plan suited for my income range.
Multiple streams of income
I intend to create multiple streams of income this year but I don’t know how easy this would be as I’m presently working in a law firm and its time consuming. I have ideas of various businesses I could start with my target consumers being online users but I don’t know which to settle for and I am apprehensive of the possibility of combining both seamlessly.
The plan is to get more visual with my blog posts this year and a good and affordable camera is going to come in handy. If you want to assist, you can either buy one for me or add to my savings ☺️. I have a 6 month savings plan towards this, so hopefully I reach my target sum by June. I’m looking at either the Sony Alpha a5100 Mirrorless Camera with 16–50mm Retractable Lens or Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Camera with 16–50mm and 55–210mm Lens.
Can anybody recommend where I can get quality camera and accessories?
I intend to check explore new restaurants and satisfy my taste buds. I have few restaurants in mind so if you know of any new or great restaurant, you can drop names in the comment section and I’ll try them out. I intend to review each as I visit.
Movies Thursday are for CDS (Community Development Service a scheme under NYSC where corp members give back to the community) and as luck would have it, my CDS holds not too far from the Adeniran Ogunsaya mall, so the plan is to see a movie at the Filmhouse Cinemas every Thursday. I might not be able to accomplish this goal because I’m trying to save and this might just be an avoidable expense.
I intend to travel to at least 3 states before the years runs out. The plan was to go to Kajuru castle with a travel company in May but I have limited resources and the cost can’t fit into my budget. If you like exploring new places, Kajuru castle is a really beautiful place to go to. A travel agency/ tour group is planning a trip for and its going to be alongside a group so it should be fun. You can check Irinajo for details of that trip or other trips they have planned for the year.
Fit Fam Since the year began, I’ve been struggling between a size 8 and 10 and I honestly don’t like it at all. To get my favorite clothes to fit again, I plan on adopting an healthy lifestyle. If you have any ideas or suggestion on how I can accomplish this without having to exercise everyday as my schedule won’t permit, please hit me up here or send me an email on email@example.com.
Did you set any goals or resolutions for the year? How’s it going? Any change(s) or improvement(s) yet? Have you or are you taking any active steps towards achieving your goals?
Please let me know in the comment section.
